Intervention Areas

Goal #1: To strengthen the Institutional Capacity of Stay-In-School International

Overall Objective #1: To provide tools and materials necessary for the promotion of early childhood development in the Gambia and Africa.

Specific Objectives    

  1. Provide 3-year administrative support for the running of SIS International head office
  2. Increase the support base of SIS International with a core group of 100 volunteers 
  3. Strengthen local and international partnership 

 Strategy #1:

  • Mobilize resources for core/administrative support
  • Constitute a core group of local and international volunteers
  • Identify and establish local and international partnership

 

Goal #2:  To increase enrollment and bridge gaps in early childhood education.

Overall Objective #2:  To increase by 70 percent the number of children attending early childhood education programs in 10 rural regions.

Specific Objectives

  • To establish 10 early childhood development centres in rural communities by 2023
  • Establish 10 recreational amenities in early childhood development centers to empower children through reading and writing 
  • To build the capacity of 50 early childhood development instructors and care givers

 Strategy #2:

  • Identify and establish early childhood development school and libraries in needed communities.
  • Provide educational material support to children in early childhood development schools
  • Identify and train early childhood development instructors and care givers.

  

Goal #3:To promote education of children with physical and developmental disability

 Overall Objective #3:To increase by 50 percent the enrollment of children with developmental disability in early childhood educational centers.

 

Specific Objectives    

  • Increase by 50 percent children with developmental disability attending early childhood development schools in 10 rural communities
  • To empower 20 special needs instructors to serve in 10 early childhood development schools 

Strategy #3: 

  1. Advocacy and sensitization on development disability education.
  2. Provide special needs educational materials to existing schools.
  3. Capacity building of instructors to provide development disability education.
